Checkers at 9th & S in the News

CHECKERS At 9th & S won Outstanding Documentary Production and Best Sound in the Graduate Production Awards ceremony on 30 April 2010 in the “VISIONS 2010, Media That Matters: A celebration of the best student audiovisual work at American University.” Peggy Fleming is the Producer. Peggy was featured in the May 4 edition of the Washington Post in a feature story about the Capitol Pool Checkers Club, The Men of the Capitol Pool Checkers Club Move Through Life Together by Deneen Brown.

Peggy Fleming's exhibit and book, Crown Me!, as well as Suzanne Quinlan's series, Musings, are on view at Multiple Exposures Gallery through June 7.

Crown Me! shown at Amsterdam film fest

CROWN ME! the ten minute video about the Capital Pool Checkers Club in Washington, DC, is featured at the International Student Film Festival Cinestud 2010. It is one of 61 chosen out of 550. The festival is in Amsterdam, from March 30 - April 4th. Peggy Fleming is the Producer. Participants are offered a bed, board and a bicycle.So Dutch. Click here to enjoy the video.

Peggy Fleming and Team win award at Our City Film Fest

Peggy Fleming and colleagues from American University win Best Mini Doc in the Our City Film Fest, to be awarded on Sunday, February 14 at the Goethe Institute in Washington, DC. Their film, At 9th and S, presents the members of the Capital Pool Checkers Club as they play checkers and share camaraderie. See details on the Our City Film Fest website.
